Big Girl Walking Shoes

Sunday, June 7, 2009

Olive is officially a walker now. In celebration of the big milestone we went shoe shopping.

So of course we got her baby converse. I loved these gray ones, but saw the shoe sales women wearing grey ones with purple shoe strings. So if anyone knows where to get baby shoe strings let me know.

We had a good day shopping with Nonni and then went to a family BBQ.

CHECK OUT THIS MONTHS WILLIAMSON PARENT MAGAZINE. OLIVE GOT A FULL PAGE FOR BEACH BABIES. THIS IS THE IMAGE WE SUBMITTED.

A fun filled Saturday

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Olive and I decided to drive up to Nashville to have linner with her Aunt Heather. We of course went to my favorite place Blue Coast Burrito. While standing in line Heather asks, "What is that dripping on the floor?" We both look to her juice cup which is sitting up right, and then realize she is peeing on the floor. I rush her to the restroom to change her diaper(which was not even full). I am still baffled as to how she peed on the floor. Then, we sit down to eat. For Olive that means black beans and tortillas. She loves black beans with a passion. So much so that not only was her face COVERED in a black film but so were both arms to her elbows and all her legs (since she had no pants on due to the accident). She was so cute and such a mess.

When we got home we changed clothes, but didn't get a bath yet since bath time is only an hour away. We put on her new outdoor shoes, some cute Jellys. We head outside to do some playing. I captured some pictures of this adventure.

Olive excited to be walking outside.

Haunted by Plastic.

Thursday, May 21, 2009

It seems my never ending battle with Plastic does not get any easier as Olive gets older. We found a great sippy cup made by Thermos. I really have liked them, but they are quite expensive and hard to find. Olive mastered lifting the heavy cup and I hate to change things up on her. However, I decided to look into plastic to save some money. Today I spent about twenty minutes in Target's baby cup isle. Just when I thought I had the right one, I would switch and get another. I finally felt confident in my solution and purchased Playtex Lil Grippers. After many hours on the computer I have been disgusted and confused about PVC, Phlatates and BPA in plastic. Of course the cups I got were the ones that even though they said on the label no BPA or Phlatates they still contained PVC. I have come to the conclusion that for a few bucks more I can buy a "safe" plastic or for a few bucks more than that I can get Olive more of her metal sippy cups. I think after the hassle of sippy cup shopping and soon returning I may just stick with what I like.

Nine Months, New York, and Easter

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Olive turned 9 months on the 10th. This week we went to see Dr. Brooks for her check up. He was so impressed with her development and said she is right where a year old should be. She is crawling super fast, cruising all over, and walking three or four steps on her own. She says mommy and daddy, and a few other untranslatable words. She can feed herself and is more than getting enough food.

She weighs 21.5 and is 29 inches long. Everything is in the 90%.

This year for Easter Josh and I went to New York City. He had to work that following Monday morning on the Today Show. We decided to go as a family and take Ollie. It wasn't her first airplane ride, but it wasn't as easy at the first time she flew. She did great though. We entertained her with food most of the time.

When we got to New York my friend Marilyn came to our hotel to watch Olive for a few hours while Josh and I went to one of his favorite restaurant Dos Caminos. Sunday morning we got Olive all pretty in her Easter dress and went to a Episcopal church literally across the street from the hotel. I had high hopes of taking her to do all the Easter things in NYC, but it got side swiped with the cold and the fact we found a gluten free breakfast joint way up town.

We did a lot of eating, but it was worth it and combated by a lot of walking! I think New York is a fun place, I just hope it's a little warmer next time we go!!
